US sizes and returns handling charge

"Why do the EU and UK sites list the sizes in US? It seems deliberate to make you order the wrong size. I ordered what I thought was UK5, that turned out to be UK2. 5. I would then have had to pay to return (no free returns) and they charge a £10 handling fee! Extortionate! It made it not worth the trouble to return. I bet they’re making a killing from all these incorrect size orders and the £10 charge. So now I’m left trying to pawn off this 2. 5."
