Big Night for Coach Sean Hutchison

Already on his way to Rome, Italy as the head coach of the 2009 U.S. women’s World Championship team, TYR-Sponsored coach Sean Hutchison saw one of his top female athletes qualify for the team on Wednesday night’s final at the 2009 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships and World Championship Trials . Placing third in the 200m freestyle, she claimed her spot on the 800 freestyle relay, making both King Aquatic Club and coach Hutchison proud. Hutchison acknowledged his swimmer’s gutsy race in which she dropped 1.4 seconds off her previous best time. As her coach, he knows the relief that came with knowing she accomplished her goal. “Third place in that group is pretty impressive,” said Hutchison. “I am happy with it. She got that monkey off her back.” Known for producing some of USA Swimming’s finest athletes, Hutchison recently served as assistant women’s coach for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team in Beijing. His trip to Rome will be his second time serving on the World Championship coaching staff, after previously being named assistant coach of the 2007 team.
