TYR Athlete Lisa Norden Crowned ITU World Champion

Huntington Beach, CA – October 22, 2013 – TYR Athlete and Olympic Silver Medalist Lisa Norden was crowned ITU World Champion with a total of 4,531 ITU World Championship Series points in Auckland, New Zealand. Discharging herself from the hospital on the morning of the final event of the eight-race World Series, Norden overcame food poisoning to clinch the title. Racing in TYR’s Carbon Aerofit Short John, Norden finished fourth in the final event of the series with a time of 2:11:03. Only fourteen seconds out of first, Norden was able to accrue enough points to secure the championship, a remarkable accomplishment considering her hospital visit the night before. Norden one the Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the women’s triathlon event.
