Matt Grevers Captures Olympic Silver Medal

Matt Grevers won an Olympic Silver medal in the 100m Backstroke at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. His Olympic dream to stand on the podium as one of the fastest swimmers came true this week.

"This has been an amazing experience. To be part of this magic has been an honor. It's by far the most exciting sports event, not just swimming event, I've ever seen," says the Olympic Silver and Gold medalist.

Matt raced his second fastest time in his life, stopping the Beijing clock at 53.11 in the 100m Backstroke Finals.

“I’m excited and thrilled by his results. This is a dream come true for him and what he’s been working for his whole entire life. The 50 seconds was emotional. I think I held my breath the whole time,” says Matt’s sister, Carolyn Grevers.

After winning an Olympic Gold medal in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay, an Olympic Silver medal in the 100m Backstroke, setting the World and Olympic records, Matt will compete in the 4 x 100m Medley Relay on Friday, August 15.

Congratulations Matt!
